I need 2 cheapy dirt bikes and advice

Hi guys my friend and I want to get a dirt bike each so we can go to woodhill or other places.
Anyone got anything in Auckland? Looking to spend about $1500...

Otherwise we're thinking of getting two of these: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=815587180
Both of us are 85kgs and just under 6ft so not sure if it'd be too small for us. We're going to view them this weekend.
Anyone got one and recommend them? Or other options similarly priced?

    Thanks in advance

They wont be much fun. Slow and fall apart at the first sign of a good size lump in the track with adult size rider.
You should be able find a couple of dr250s or even 350s. Maybe a tt350 or a xr.

You can get a decent used bike for that cash that will outlive that thing 1,000x.

Okay I'll look for those type of bikes you guys mentioned. Anything I should look out for? What kinda lifetime does the engine have

As said they will not last any kind of decent riding. You want something that is going to last more than a couple of rides for that coin.

If there is anything left to sell. My 84 DR 200 is my favorite bike in the hills round here, I can thrash it and throw it around for days at a time, and it just keeps going. Dont care if it gets scratched and beaten around, It just gets another coat of power pylon paint when it gets too untidy.

Thats the Kids track at Harrisville and well groomed by the looks.
Not at all representative of whats on the main track or out woodhill.

Your far to big for those Forza's.
Another option is a old mx 125 for that budget. Cheap to re piston and fun as
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-813632729.htm

If your a young fella you'll want to give the MX track a go and do jumps so something like this would be better and get you through the trees.
Not Ideal for technical woodhill knarly stuff but definitely ridable.
You'd eat the Mr Moto rides on it up here, do Ardmore and the main Harrisville track with its big jumps
    I had one and a 2001 Cr250.

Depends if you want a MX thumper or a go for it bike.
A KDX200 would also be a great starter bike
Mint one here http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-811381301.htm but they are in your budget to.

    Hope this helps
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

Are you looking to advance your skills? If so a well kept old 250 war horse, XR, XL, XT, TT, DR, KL, KLX ect will be just the ticket. It just needs to stop & go.
Usual rules apply, buy the most honest bikes & get help, if you need it, to decide.

Riding in the dirt is a whole new ball game & all bikes are capable of falling over. Get ones that don't mind to much.

If you decide you want something betterer in 6 months it won't be much of a hit financially to move them on unless you wreck them.

Thank you guys for the excellent advice. Another reason I want a cheapy is so I won't mind as much if I wreck it.
I do want to move on to gaining more technical skill and it's either this or bucket racing and there's an FXR150 on trademe that's tempting me right now...

If you all don't mind I'll post dirt bikes on here as I find them and take your advice whether it's good or not.

I don't want to do jumps and crazy motorcross stuff. I'm more keen on doing a long ride through the forest and enjoying the views as I go along etc. Seeing a part of the country I can't otherwise see.

Will a 2 stroke 125 be fine for 85kg me?

    Or this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-813680634.htm

I would prefer a yamaha as my fiancee's uncle can get parts for cheap I think as he is a marine mechanic.

    Or this? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-811439896.htm

This seems like a goer: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-816256924.htm

KDX200 all the way. And you wont lose money when you sell it. I love mine. Im not riding it much but when I do it gives you a big smile. Enough grunt to get you over things but it doesnt want to kill you.

Me neither, but sometime I just cant help myself.

And that is the main reason I use mine, is for exploring and getting to the places I cannot reach in the 4x4.
