Might be available for help if you like (if i'm not still sick with the flu!)
I have installed that exact alarm on my bike - not for any reason other than the insurance premiums.
Having said that, ghey features like remote start are quite fun to play tricks on the unsuspecting folk who walk up to the bike when it's parked in public and in range of the remote.....![]()
not meaning to be a downer but when my bike was stolen, they just picked it up, threw it on a trailer and drove off. an alarm would of done nothing
p.s. how much is it for a remote start?
Yeah...sux doesn't it? but don't even try debating this with the insurance company.Originally Posted by The young one
Most people do realise the futility of an alarm but it lowered my premiums, so i did it. It does actually help when someone gets a bit too inquisitive and goes to sit on the bike or fiddle with it or something, plus i hope that it makes it more obvious that the bike is immobilised.....then again who pays any attention to car/bike/house alarms these days anyway?
I picked up the alarm for about $200....just a cheapie.
That sucks dude... but like allun said... insurance purposes mainly... 90% of the time when I'm not on my bike it's outta sight and hearing range so alarm won't help me much either if anything happens... but whats there to loose... (besides the bike)Originally Posted by The young one
I brought my alarm off TradeMe for $99.

Allun, if you want to come along and help/do it, more than welcome. Easier for someone who's done the same thing before to do it, than someone who hasn't..
Will do if possible....right now i'm no use to anybody though.......colds make me sloooooow in the head....![]()

If you bring it to my workshop we can sort it I am a motorcycle mechanic
So how did it go then? All sweet?
forgot about this..
Rudolph, we sorted it (if you read the posts) on the 24th sept.. but thanx for the offer..
Allun, I had two issues with it, I was going to PM you with, but might as well just outline it here.
1) the remote start. Couldn't get it to fire off the remote. I attached the start wire from the alarm to the wire coming from the push button on the handle bars (thinking logically), but it wouldn't fire. Which wire did you attach it to?
2) couldn't get the thing to talk (brown wire to ign acc power). Found and tried several lines (and blew a fuse), but wasn't happening. Don't know if that's a blessing (it says 'Welcome to your motorcycle' as the ing is switched on...).. Don't know if PF wants that bit working.
However, I did get the alarm wired in, lights flashing, alarm chirping and being set off when someone sat on it. So that's the primary goals. And, as an added bonus, the bike still started and rode off, even after I had touched it!!
