DR650 SE 2004 + Model Questions

Hey team and DR650 lovers.

I'm looking at purchasing a DR650 in the near future, and I would like to know...

For a 80% tarmac, 20% off road ridden DR... how many KM's is too much on the clock before they start needing rebuilds.

I'm after a DR650 I can just get on... and ride... not have to "do it up" like I have had to do with bikes in the past.

So what KM's does the bike go for a nanny rider until they start needing some rebuild attention ?

I see you are talking 2nd hand. I would sooner purchase a one owner bike with 70k but has been maintained properly by someone who knows what he is doing, rather than pick up a bike with 5 owners and 30,000k.

Looked after, they seem to go forever. with maintainance.

Ok so both opinions are good. Basically I expect to get an easy 70,000km out of the DR650 if proper maintenance is followed before having to do any rebuild work.

Proof of the bikes (GOOD) service record might ensure a sale. Most (honest) sellers know this. If such a record is not offered for perusal ... ask about it ... (ie: where they get work on the bike done)

Nothing ever needs a rebuild, its more a matter of when do you get tired of topping up the oil all the time....
I have a GSXR750 with about 110,000 km on it, leaky valve oil seal and prob 'needs' a rebuild but not worth throwing the money at it, just keep riding.
