    Crackdown in the Wairarapa

I was talking to one of the local representatives of the Police this morning, who was kind enough to let me go with a warning (I was only doing 117 in a 100k zone, but he did suggest that it was past time I washed my bike), and he said in conversation that last weekend in the Wairarapa they pulled over about 13 bike riders and apparantly four of the riders were unlicenced and another five were riding bikes over a CC rating that their licences allowed.

So it sounded like a good money making weekend for the police.

There seems to be more warnings being issued for minor speed and less '11 k over' tickets lately.
Could it be that a quiet word has been had?

Could be that.. I have been getting that feeling as well.

My theory is that it's election time and people don't want to be getting ticketed left right and centre and accusing the govt of revenue gathering (well.. not that it ain't happening) but it getting through the media worse than it is now.

If people got pinged heaps then it don't look good for labour.
I think this happened around last election time - see if it stays like this after the election is over

They must be sticking to the main routes as we didn't see a single cop on the way to Lake Ferry last Sunday. I'm amazed they haven't done this more often, although it will spoil the fun somewhat!

Hells bells some of you must be naive to think a 'quiet word' has been put out.
