Thanks Saul for the offer, I have ended up making one. Not sure if it will go beyond proto-type #1, Have intentions of a pad & velcrove?? . Was just surprised that no-one wanted to sell one.
So whatever happens I wont be stuck from using it !
    Thanks again for the offer

    No sweat mate.

When I had a crappy old uniden I had to get one for some reason

It cost me $20.00 I think.

I wonder if they are the same size? I think that they look similar.

Why don't you pop into Repco with your unit and see if one will fit

Just a ramble and a thought

I made up a wedge-shaped perspex thing for my ute - Escort attaches to it with velcro, and the wedgything is velco'd to the dash. Unlike suction cups, it doesn't fall off.

So many threads on this stuff I have asked people if they work 1/2 say yes 1/2 say no, was told by someone they were doing 260 when the screamer went off grab a fist full a brakes and slowed down in time for a cop in a HP car... Fact or Fiction? I would like to get one as just a few tickest and good bye licence....

The only other time is if the cop has turned it on to scan someone further down the road before they get to you, and you pick it up.
    It works for me.

Yes... the V1 is the best detector you can get. But what you need to do is learn not to think the V1 is going to save your ass. And know when you can use the V1 to its advantage and when not. E.g on a wide open road with no cars ... the cop can probly see your headlight and so can the radar see you... in that place you have no decoy to hide behind or use as radar bait. So you know u have a higher risk and not speed as much.

... etc ... etc and develop your theories from there.

And yes... if you clearely the fastest object on the road and you are Instant ONed... then you are OWNED....

The World as it Really Is
Probably you’ve noticed that many other detectors create false alarms that set off your detector. Hundreds of thousands of badly engineered detectors from BEL®, Cobra®, Radio Shack® and Uniden® spew local oscillator harmonics that are very similar in character to the POP burst used by MPH Industries. Ordinary detectors aren’t clever enough to reliably distinguish between them.

its true.. you detect every frikken stupid Uniden's out there.

Maybe. So far I have see almost all the cops with my eye-balls before the detector, but there has been the odd time it's been faster (and that's the one that you get ticketed on). No falseys yet, but having it has turned me into a nana. After you see how close you are before you get the alarm and see how long it takes you to respond, you start going at a speed that you can get back to the limit quickly and easily on. Beside your a fool if you put your trust in the detector 100% (special when you see cops and it doesn't go). It would be great if the fu*ken thing told you that it was work every now and again.

    I own a Uniden and more recently a EscortX50.
The Uniden is obviously older. Isnt as sensitive and falses heaps. I also cant filter out X band.
The EscortX50 doesnt false, I have filtered out Xband, but still have got stopped. And that was cause cop was using passive. I was 20over but on his readout, but I had been travelling higher and slowed when it went off... I'm sure it saved a few $'s.

I suppose IF it drops you into the next lower demerit/fine bracket by the time the cop locks you on it would have to be seen as a plus - even if you get a ticket.t
