cant be its using doppler which means ........yeah could be pretty quick though

the thing with radars is you can get warning of the cop when the guy a few clicks in front of you gets illuminated

    How do you mean "illuminated??

Also when I check cars I only check the ones I suspect are going a bit quick and turn the radar on just long enough to see their speed (a second or two) and then off again, not having experience at 'the other end' so to speak, how much notice do you take a 'klick' away when you detector detects a momentary indication of a radar??
Bearing in mind it might be the only time I turn it on for several minutes.

having radar energy pointed towards it, ie you pointing in my direction with you buttton on Go. and a question, can you just use the forward/backward antenna or do both come on when you go active?

Really depends where I am, in heavy traffic in Auckland hardly bloody blink, but out the back of no where were false alerts are rare then I so slow from 111 down to 105 *tui* for about 3 or 4 ks

Got a cop about 4-5 k on the cliff tops between Awakino and Mokua once as I got a beep beep at the top of a hill, then no more alerts till the old Mk1 eyeball kicked in and saw him hiding up in some flax in the HP car, so sneaky

but alas my radar kinda kicked the buckter when it got a little wet

We select which direction so only one comes on.

Good to come up behind a car at traffic-lights in the city, see the radar detector is on and then turn on the unit and watch all the pretty red lights on the detector go crazy - and the cars occupants jumping about a foot in the air and putting hands over ears and heads spin around....heh heh heh!

no they dont, not transmitting anyway. The pretty lights on the reciever are normally on all the time but the radar is usually off until they see traffic.
I ask because most of the cops I see have their units transmitting.

Shit! Mine must be busted, it takes less than a second to get a reading. Better take it back and get another one!

They must be the ones with no hunting instinct that just want the easy pickings...
Or are on the way to something more important and want to give detector owner value for their money!

In heavy traffic some cops choose to leave them on constantly, more as a deterent to active speeders with radar detectors rather than attempting to catch speeders by stealth.

Its up to the individual cop how they elect to operate the device.

Or the cops that can't multi-task.
That is, have a genital fondling moment AND operate the Stalker.

Tonight got three in a row from the same spot - for a change instead of being 'sneaky' I just parked beside the kerb, could be seen from , oh, 500-600 metres away, broad daylight and it was still like shooting fish in a barrel - all doing 70+ in a 50.
Was there for 15 minutes then got bored and moved off.

If they had detectors and their ears worked as good as their eyes they would have still been pinged!!

Last yoik of a boy-racer was too busy on the phone to notice me - WTF, can't he multi-task at all??

Tried reaction time to see how long from ON to LOCK - less than 1 second - and that includes the cycle ON - READING - LOCK, o.k. I WAS trying but it gives you an idea how fast the dollar extraction death-ray operation CAN be.

No, I don't get a buzz, I don't strop off on it, I treat it like a part (not the best part) of my job. (also hones my 'hunting' skills)

don't lie you know you love it... these are the kinds of people you should be getting if they can see a cop car then you cant see no motorcycle, they shouldn't be on the road, just like the taxi driver who beeped his horn at me twice then pretended like he was gonna take me out I was on his left, I backed off behind him pulled up at the lights and asked him WTF he was doing he replied "you motorcycles are always driving in the bus lanes your a courier you should know better".... fucking terrorist taxi drivers
