    Speeding

I have just had a fine thru the door here in Scotland from a recent trip to NZ for speeding, bloody 111kmh in a 100 what a load of sh1t, are they this strict?

Anyway, does anyone know if this will carry to points on my licence when I get there and what is score before bans etc.

I have been fined $80 is this standard.

    Andy
If someone passes you he is a nutter and you expect to pick him off the blacktop round the next corner, if you pass someone they are a slow and have all the gear and no idea

Yes they fill there quota with anyone they can nab. I have had 3 speeding tickets all at the 80$ mark. 114 in a 100 zone, 62 in a 50 zone and 112 in a 100 zone. Its just an extra road tax.

Did though have the pleasure of being "flashed" head on the other day. just wished i'd had the pressent of mind to smile and wave as i was on my bike and theres no chance they'll find me.

    Sucks.

As to demerit points... no idear really.

Ok, I was under the impression it was different cause someone else I know ended up with the 20 demerits waiting for them and being transferred to their license when they got here.

I work in a rental car company and we get at least 6 or 7 germans a year asking us how to get their license back cause they thought the the 100 sign meant minimum speed. Aparrently they can still drive back home but for the time being in NZ they have to stay off the road. Always fun we we have to get OUR cars out of the impound lot.

Actually that makes sense if you are on a non resident license....if someone was to then get a NZ license later on,i can't see them dragging up old demerits to put on it.?

The catch with the $80 being, take to long to pay it and it is added to at an alarming rate.

Sniper: the bloody hire company gave them my address won't be using them again.

TLDV8: Yes I was expecting prizes because points make prizes, do they not?

Grahameeboy: I hope you are right as I don't want to have points before I even move not a good start.

What is the max points, I take it you get 10 for each speeding fine, how long do they say on!

They sound as nice as the rozzers we have here.

I must have been lucky.....still cannot work out how they hold the points for non-residents.....but looks like these German geezers were on Autobahn mode when caught hence their licences were taken off them.........

Do rental outfits explain speed limits, double-yellow lines, etc to 'foriegners' renting their cars?? If not I would say it would be a good thing to start doing - and oh, also let them know about the loss of licence for 50kmh over the speed limit and to pull over and STOP when followed by a cop car that has a siren on and blue and red flashing lights going.

Isreaile: "Oh, I never stopped because in Isreal the Police drive everywhere with their lights and sirens going"

Unspecified: "Ah, yerrow rines? means is motorway, yes?

Also unspecified: "By goom, ah thought that were mahles an hour, don't know mooch abaht this kilometer thing" - yeah right!
