Laser will trigger sometimes. If it's looking through a screen, refraction can cause it to alert. Raindrops do it to mine sometimes as well.

One of the electronic components has come loose in mine (Getting it replaced Saturday), which I'm sure is causing the laser alarm to trigger.

Who is fixing it for you or is it under guarantee ?
I got mine from the States some time ago and don't want to send it back if I can get it fixed here.

However over the last few weeks the laser band has been going off for no apparent reason both in the car and on the bike, even miles away from anywhere.
Has anyone else had this problem or do I need to get it checked out and if so where is the best place to take it.

    Cheers
Programmed Ka only like yourself. No Laser action except for the real thing. Mr Plod was on the Bombays targeting northbound traffic just before the plant place. Escort started making noises I hadnt heard it make before. Was in a car that struggles to go up there at 110k's in top gear so no problem.

Sounds like you need to disable the X band and K band as they are not now used in NZ and then you will get no false alarms from supermarket doors etc.
The only bands you want operating are KA and Laser.

Flashcards are excellent to deal with. Get your order in by 4pm and you will normally have the goods the next day. Their after-sales service is tops, too.

    Repled as follows
I am sorry, we do not sell those parts separately, only the complete
    retail package.

Apparently they have a prodigious appetite for batteries.
