Sure can be...just found out yesterday when I put the bag down to put on my helmet and didn't notice the sand....luckily I have one of those non slip pads or else I would have scratched the hell out of the tank with the cubic metre of sand I had just picked up...hard to get off too since the magnets in my bag are not removable...

Skelstar, you just need to use that pack rack you've got, no paint scratchin problems then On tank bags in general, some of those large ones I really wonder how the hell you are supposed to see where you're going!

You could get a metal plate in your head and carry it on your helmet.

My tank bag, a Motoline (?), is a pain in the arse. Over a certain (unmentionable) speed it thinks it's a bird and starts flying all over the place.
Disconcerting as I'm usually passing a truck at the time.

I had a local sign shop put clear vinyl on the tank to protect that and I think I might put duct tape across the front of the flaps of the bag in an attempt to stop the wind getting under them. As long as I can still get at the fuel filler...

If all that doesn't work the bastard can go in the cupboard until I decide to buy a bike with a fairing again.
