    u turn freak

Hey all, I know I'm not the only one that this has happened to, but maaaaaaaaaaaate...come around a nice sweeper to find small black hatch choosing this paticular moment to do a u-turn(illegally), however upon hearing the approaching TL1000 decides...shit, I'll sit here...and wait...sure enough I arrive mid corner to find a wee car sat across the left hand lane, I manage to get around the little darling (lowered, body kit, drivers head barely visible above the door frame, all noticed in a split second)...but now I'm on the wrong side of the road with on-coming traffic...needless to say, it all turned to custard, I'm ass up, split my shoulder blade in half, break my shoulder socket, break my collar bone, impale my leg with something...probably the footpeg...crack my elbow, and worst of all my baby's all bashed and scuffed...and the little darling hatch back does a runner...i'm completely concussed, can't work my cel phone for about 20 minutes by which stage some people with a scrap of decency have stopped to offer what help they can...8 months later, i've just had an op to plate and screw the collar bone, and that little darling hatch back got away with the lot. i'm happy to be breathing, I know i bounce well...but my insurance has had to fork out for it all...my excess is pretty massive, and I might add that initially they weren't particularly forth coming...what car, what witnesses??...yes I'm a moaning old fart, but back in my day, if you caused the accident, you'd at least stop and offer some assistance...nuff said...

well, welcome to the site, and shit luck mate.. unfortunately there are some real fukin twats around that don't want to take responsibility for their actions. You'll probably find their car would have been ordered off the road for failing to comply, and that they probably didn't have insurance anyway.. fukin jerks..

well, hope you mend well, and have fun around deez here parts

    Hey welcome to KB

Bummer to hear about your accident, as bugjuice said there's plenty of twats out there who don't give a shit about other road users... But at least your on the mend... and by the sounds of it, you bike is on the mend too and before you know it, you'll be back riding enjoying the twisties...

Don't worry about the dickhead in the hatchback... karma is gonna kick his/her ass big time
I'm not a complete idiot... some pieces are missing

Hiya, CPB! Welcome to the KiwiBiker gargre!

Yeah, it's a bugger the "cause an accident then piss off quick" types we get. Similar thing happened to us about four weeks ago - got back from vacation, took #1's car out of the gargre so we could put our car in, and some twat runs into the back of it then pisses off quick before anyone could get his rego.
We're finally getting it back from the panel beater's today. Luckily, the excess was only $300, but it'll cost us more than that in increased premiums.

And I've personal experience the "I think I'll crack a u-turn" twat as well, but unluckily for me, he hit me, and wrote my bike off. Luckily, he didn't do a runner, there were people on the scene within seconds, and he had to pay for the whole lot. I was fortunate though, as I escaped without much injury, just a squished leg and possibly cracked heel.

Well, hope things go better for you, and that you enjoy visiting here.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

That's actually a pretty good idea - given the options (isn't hindsight such a bloody great AND useless thing).

The best place to hit a car is just behind the front tyre and just infront of the front door as most cars have a built in crumple zone there to absorb impacts.

ran into a fool like this today. Was in a security van, moved over to the left and slowed down heaps, then all of a sudden swung back across at a 45degree angle, not indicating any of it.

Luckily i've been in this sitution before and just hit the brakes. Guy looked like he had shat himself when i sat on the horn....

bad luck for you mate... as said probably woulda been best to hit the car near the wheel well and just gone for a fly... of course in these kinda times thats not the first thought going through your head.

    welcome :spudwave:
