Yup, and tyre sponsorship is Golden... even part sponsorship saves you heaps...
That said, a 250 is very economical on tyres compared to One Tyre Per Race on a Superbike!
A set could last you all season....

I can only hope they will! It's got Shitkos on it at the moment so they'll be replaced as soon as I can afford to. Needs a new rear sprocket and the rear brake rotor is quite worn too (haven't measured with calipers yet) so I'll replace them before tracking it also.

Been good to read about what you are doing. Ive got a mate who really wants to make the step to a Hyo 250 track bike.
Do him the world of good to read all this. Keep up the good work and keep us informed.

I wouldn't worry about the rear brake rotor... as I don't use the rear brake. It only provides at best 10%, usually a lot less....

Sprockets are something it is good to have a collection of sizes too... Sorry, forgot that off my last list.

Yeah, must confess I have never raced on Shinkos... Been Dunlops all the way for me (Hence link in my signature block).

Where do you think would be the best place to go for my first track day?
    Hampton Downs or Pukekohe?

If it is one of the ART days that AMCC put on, then Puke would be fine. Apart from the open test days I am not aware of any other track days running at Puke, and I personally don't think the open days are a good idea if you are a novice (I am not keen on them full stop truth be told).

At the ART day you will also get some great advice from so very experienced trainers/racers, so it is well worth it.

On the other hand there would be nothing wrong with a bike only track day at Hampton either, but you wont get the instruction you will get at the ART.

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

They have instructors there that will happily do some laps with you to show you the lines.

You only need gear and a bike that runs.
    No need for licence yet.....

ART day on the 15th. They are great days. I will be holding up good riders in G2.

Will you have boots by then?

Now a member of the AMCC. Just got my documentation from them in the post.

I'll be sending off my licence forms tonight. Getting closer bit by bit.

Good on you taking it to the track.
I have a good rear disk off a GT250r available if needed. 4.1mm thick.
+ a rear rim for sale if anyone wants one.
