Learner biker wanting recommendations on daily commute bike

    Hi

    What bike should i buy?

    I'm 189cm (6'2) 110kg (230 lbs) so don't want a small feeling bike.

Cheap is best (low ongoing maintenance very important. So needs to be cheap overall i.e. not interested in dodgy or high maintenance bikes).

Basic experience - Had a 125 Yamaha as a teenager but haven't had a bike for 10+ years

250cc + preferred and best suite for cummuter

will be my daily commuter (~30km including motorway).

Bike needs to be LAMS approved

Your help would be much appreciated

Motard. Wr450, DRZ400, XT660 or xr600. Big bikes will suit your frame. Thumper engines for the torque to carry your rig. Nothing is better fun to commute on. Cheapest maintenance, least damage costs in a crash and usually hold their resale value pretty well

Im 6ft and commute on a 1988 cbr250r, bit small but really easy to chuck around in traffic, dont rule out a smaller frame. Take test rides!!!!

    Early (pre 07) Ninja 250R.

Is halfway between 'sports' and 'upright' in riding position. I'm 6'3" and was fine on one.

Something like this, except more around the $2,000 - 2500 mark. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-845742780.htm

had one of those one day, waaaaaay better than the coffee. I can still taste the cup I had in 2013.

Pete, out of more than passing interest can the 650FU be lowered at all?
