Lightbulb Christchurch to the Dusty Butt 2015

Hi All, I am going to ride the same route that Matt has organized in previous years.

I have talked to 2 of 3 the land owners and are hoping to confirm access to the 3rd property this week.

The ride will be the same as previous years, Waimakariri River bed upto the bridge.
Through to Blackford road and down to Glennfalloch station. Through the station onto lake Heron station and out past lake heron.

Into Mayfield for lunch and Fuel.

Onto Orari gorge and through that station ( 1 river crossing at the end ) then through to Fairlie.

If anyone else is interested let me know, I will be leaving from the Z petrol station in Yaldhurst on west coast road at 8.30am sharp on Friday the 13th.

Access fees are still $10.00 per property, so $30.00 in total.
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time

    Hey Mark,
I'm on leave Friday so may well join you as far as Mt Sommers if that's ok?

As per my pm and for the info of others, I have just spoken to Robert @ Orari Gorge Station and he was very reluctant to give anyone access to his property over this coming weekend due to the extreme fire risk conditions, this will only change if there is any significant rain during the week.
The fact that riders have spark arrestors and fire extinguishers was irrelevant as in his words "embers could ignite minutes or hours later, well after the rider has departed the area"

    Unhappy Change of Plans

Hi Guys, with the access to Orari gorge being denied and the fact that I could not get any accomodation in Christchurch on thursday night ( forgot the cricket world cup was on ) I will only be doing the Glenfolloch and Lake Heron stations part of the ride.

Have booked accomodation at the Blue Pub in Methven and will leave from the start of Blackford Road at 10.00 am if anyone stills wants to tag along.
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time
