    RD200 Electric start

    I've not heard of an electric start RD before.
    Nice3 bike with buggar all miles.

    I had an RS200 - essentially the same engine in a more cruiser style. What a fabulous, wonderful beast that was!

    Main technical difference was that the RS had piston port induction, while the RD used reeds.

    The Rs had a leccy boot; worked incredibly well. It seemed all you had to do was breathe on the button and the engine was running.

    Handled predictably - grounding out on both sides was easy. Light, flickable, easy to ride, quick (up to about 80-90km/h)... Ahh, nostalgia.

    It looked a lot like this one:



    I stripped and rebuilt the seat, repainted the underside fo the tank, and used aluminium paint on the exhaust headers. The only trouble it ever gave was when the throttle stuck open in first gear...

    Yeah common as muck, well almost. DC generator that doubled as a elccy leg. A couple of mates had em in Gold. Looks smart in Blue.
