GSR-750 - Is this the same as the GSX-S750?

I do hope you are right, and the accountants are kept away. Suzuki could hit a home run with this if equipment levels and finish are good or it could be a bigger version of the pig GSR750 IMHO. The Gsr has value on its side and that's it. Heavy, nobbled engine, suspension stolen from bic pens, push bike brakes, cheapest possible swing arm etc etc. a swing and a miss. Mt09 is better, but really is a $20000 bike by the time you factor in proper suspension, exhaust and sorting out that awful fueling. Kawasaki z800 might be a better bet, but again low spec and as heavy as the moon.

The Z800 is a massive improvement over the previous Z750R and a LOT lighter. It's the pick of this runty litter of budget 4 cylinder 750-800s if you ask me.

The media have pulled the GSX1000s's appearance to bits, noting things like engine covers that are different shapes to the K5, hinting at things like it not having a slipper clutch and so on. We won't know until we see one. If they simply leave the torque curve alone and knock 20hp off a K5 I'd be VERY happy, thank you. The GSR750 isn't as bad as you make it out, it just isn't special when compared to a Street Triple for instance. But it is cheaper. The FZ-8 had the potential to be great, but that muffler! That rear shock! That price!

These bikes are for old blokes who can't be bothered with the agony a 1 hour ride generates and want a bike they can actually use with the best ever 1000cc 4 cylinder motorcycle engine. The Suzukis will be for people who don't need to reaffirm their coolness by riding a Euro. They probably also want value for money and reliability.

I like the GSR750, but if they still stocked the GSR600 for the NZ market, and it was going for a good price, I probably would have gotten IT, instead of the GSX-R600. It better suits my riding style. (And then I wouldn't have such aching trapezius muscles right now. But it's just that they haven't had a lot of use recently, and they'll get used to it.)
I reckon Suzuki should refresh, update, and bring back the GSR600 for a sharp price. It'd be perfect for commuting with a de-tuned, torquier version of the GSX-R600 motor and the upright seating position. Slips in under the rego/licencing fee increase.

I test rode a Brand new GSR 750. I so wanted to like it. I was so let down. I have ridden plenty of street triples and while some of their suspension is budget as, the sum of the parts just work so much better. Fingers crossed for the GSX1000 R.

So far, I'm LOVING the GSXR... It's got more than enough torque and power for me, and it feels light and "chuckable". I've owned small bikes in the past, like a VTR250 and an FXR150, and this feels almost as easy to throw around as the FXR, but with about ten times the acceleration.

Only 4Kms on the odo when I picked it up...


I like it in the white/grey. It's a pearlescent white, looks pretty good up close IMHO.

My only complaints are: No fuel gauge (not a big issue really), and the clock goes away when you turn on odo or trip meter (also not a big problem, especially as you can toggle through the displays using buttons on the handlebars). I prefer the GSR gauges, which do have a fuel gauge, the clock is permanently on there, and there is a fuel consumption display too.

I'm making my own as soon as I can ride again.
The K5/6 engine is ideal for a Naked.

I'd still love a K5/6, but, the missus has to be able to ride it as well, (we swap bikes occasionally) so that rules out sports bikes! An upright K5/6 sounds about ideal. The 750 was such a comedown - like so many - built to an accountant's specification.

White does look good in that model...nice purchase man! I expected more to sell at thesuzuki fest price, but not many sold down here. I test rode my mates superduke, so knew I wanted a naked bike.

I did see a hayabusa in white and I just thought it looked like a big mass of ugly.

Perhaps I havent rode enough bikes but I like my gsr, I had a sprint before this, so this is much easier to ride and reviews have all been good, its a reliable, steady bike.
