I remember that Mark Petch's racing 240 T was nicknamed "The Swedish Taxi" and the "Flying Brick" during practice for the '85 Nissan Mobile. Things changed a bit after it won fresh off the boat as the GTRs lunched their front diffs on Cable street for the first time. That thing brings a whole new meaning to flying brick and I loved the way it blew the doors off the Audi

Yeah i remember that I was there. The aussies were totally embarrased. Brocky and Johnston in the V8's didnt stand a chance.
Whats more the Volvo looked like it had just came off the taxi ramp. Robbie Francevic i think was the driver. They banned the turbos a while after that. Didnt look too cool, but fark could it go. I had a different appreciation for the old bricks after that. I wanted to by one and go out and blow all the V8s off at the lights. They werent cheap to buy ...240T's

Yep, the old 240T Flying Brick. Robbie Francevic and a Belgian driver won the Wellington street race with it back in the 80's.
It didn't look very aerodynamic but shit it could go. It also did pretty well over in Australia.

Cool, but not as WTF as the 850 Wagon that Volvo entered in the British Touring cars in 1993...shame they reverted to a saloon the next year.
