Incident Type: Update :Road closures due to inclement Weather: Central Nth Island
Following is an update of the Roads that have been closed due to inclement weather and road conditions:
SH 1 - Desert Road - Turangi to Taihape
SH 4 - Taumaranui to Raetahi
SH 47 - National Park to Turangi
SH49 - Ohakune to Waiouru.Efforts are being made by Road Maintainence crews to use bulldozers to clear the roads but this is becoming increasingly difficult.
Again it is strongly recommended that road travel in these areas be avoided tonight unless absolutely unavoidable.

Normanby,Hawera,Wanganui,Marton areas and particularly roads South of Waiouru experiencing hail storms, sleet and ice on the roads. It would be advisable for people to restrict their travels in these areas tonight. Those who are travelling to be careful and drive to what the conditions dictate. Roads are not closed as yet but this may change later, dependant on the conditions.
