    New bike for R650R

    Well its either time for the GSXR750WW to be part ex'd or have an insanely stupid amount of money spent on it doing it up. And the trusty DR650 is a reliable steed that has far exceeded all expectations but lacks in a few areas.
    So what should I get next???
    Leaning towards something dual purpose/tourey but still has enough horsepower to do stupid dumb stuff on occasion...
    I really love the DR except for its crud suspension, gets bit revvy if wanting to cruise slightly faster, its light weight means you notice large loads of gear...
    Have a secret lust for Italian v-twin buried inside so likes of multistrada/Dorsoduro and F800 or Tiger 800XC interest me too...
    Sorry no Hondas, I'm already fat enough, don't need a fat overweight bike as well, that's you I'm talking about crossrunner.... although there is rumour of a new adv bike....

    So please your incredibly biased and vested suggestions please

    Yeah, that new Africa Twin thing, or depending on your need

    The Multistrada is a road tourer, the Italians idea of a tourer (wheelies and 150+hp with minimal protection) or the Aprilia Caponord et al.

    Or if all roads is your idea, a BMW GS, 1200 for low maintenance shaft (the new water cooled one is a very different beast engine wise, but the oil head still pulls wheelies if that's your idea of stupid dumb stuff) or if you want lighter, something more like the F800, but you're back to chain.

    I had a ride on a Tiger 800xc not long ago .. I'd buy one in a heartbeat if I had the room in the shed, and the coin , of course.

    They ride as good as they sound, love that triple lot's of character and heard they're very reliable to boot.

    actually thats 4

    But the seat and suspenders need upgrading, also the muffler and headlights. But give one a try anyway

    Yes, Hhhmmmm does any bike come stock with decent suspension and lights these days, Farkle me!!! That's one thing Suzuki got right on the GSXR, the twin headlamps are amazing for night riding, decent spread even on low beam.

    Just like online dating the fatties keep trying their luck.... I don't know how Honda, trendsetters with the Fireblade can make a bike so freaking heavy and not commit Harikari to avenge the loss of honour....

    Funnily enough I've been contemplating one of those myself... for the more adventurous bits. I had a quick squirt on one a while back and it was quite quick
    But I do like the GS's load carrying ability and the way it eats up road miles effortlessly

    Do those rear fuel tanks affect Beemers handling???

    Naah... it goes forwards and down from the filler and sortof wraps around the shock. Designed to keep the weight/c.o.g. low
    Then they put the battery and air filter up where the tank normally goes I'm not sure which weighs more, a battery or 17l of fuel.
