Okay on paper this might be a little crazy but bear with me. I've got two ninjas at the moment (second one with 15k on it came up on TM and I couldn't say no) and I've had the other one listed on trademe since about November. I've had literally one person come to look at it, and it's currently at about 6.7k after a couple price drops. 6.7 seems pretty damn reasonable to me but what do I know, I always hear about people getting crazy deals on these sites and spouting super low numbers but I've never managed it myself.
Anyway, I've had an offer of a potential straight swap for a 2013 DRZ400SM. Among other things the GF wants to get into bikes and this seems like a reasonable starting point, she would be mainly commuting around the city on it so the motard comfort issues shouldn't matter too much. Also she is pretty much my size so it could be set up more or less the same for both of us.
So I guess my question is if I did want to sell the DRZ would I be back where I started? Is selling bikes on TM just difficult in general?
These are the pro's and cons as I see them:
Ninja..
Pros
- Goes like a bat out of hell
- Slipper clutch, shift light, lalala
- Usual super sport pros
Cons
- 43k is getting a bit high for an easy sell
- Doesn't seem to be any interest on trademe
- Usual super sport cons
DRZ
Pros
- GF can learn on it
- Can do light trail
- Fun around town
- Learn some motard style
- 15k
- About 7 years younger
- Easy sell?
- Lots of fairly easy mods
Cons
- Slow, heavy, uncomfortable
- Less tank range
- About 4k and an expert to get 55hp
That's all I can think of right now, if I just had one ninja or if I had more space the answer would be easy.. Keep the other ninja and track it then get the GF a bike/sell later. Sadly those aren't really options I have right now.
What would you do with your sensible hat on?
