If you can afford the 300 and you don't want to wait for the R3, then test ride and buy it if you like it. You won't know unless you ride one yourself

I've spent 10 months and 12000kms on mine, and still find it very fun. I use it as a daily commuter around town (3km), and long trips away on the weekends when I can. Keeps up with bigger bikes easily, although engine size isn't the biggest factor when it comes to riding...

Getting my full licence in October, no real plans on upgrading. The 300 does everything I need it to, it's a very capable bike.

Buy a second hand bike that you won't lose thousands on and that isn't gutless and shit?

Thanks for all of your advice guys , very good points , maybe I try to see if anyone in wellington selling his or hers 2013+ Ninja 300.

Hard to decide between ninja 300 and MT-07 as two bikes I do like . The main issue is the higher price of MT-07 and no second hand ones around that I have seen.

MT07 = a proper bike, best suspension in class, bar the Duke 659. Best brakes, lots of gadgets, handles great, lots of torque, looks great, well built.
EX300 Ninja = Cheaply made commuter, shit suspension, budget brakes, typical average Kawasaki build quality. Not worth the asking price IMHO.

Both good bikes, but the MT is better.

Your best bet would be just buy a cheaper second hand LAMS bike, spend good dosh on gear, do rider training.
Rape second hand bike, sell/trade in on shiny bike with no loss in a year

    Yamaha R3 vs Ninja 300

Ducatilover have you owned a ninja 300 ? Because how you described it defies how people speak about this bike . Not saying you are wrong but want to know if you owned one and experienced those issues

Nope. Ridden enough of them to know they're a budget commuter and a slightly improved EX250
Most fans of them have never ridden nicer bikes, and rightfully love them
They're not a bad machine, just don't do anything better than adequate

I don't think they're worth the coin unless you get a second hand one.

It's also a completely different machine to the MT, so probably not worth comparing.

Young fella on one tried to beat me from the lights on one.

Well my bike doesnt say how many CCs it is.

But they are a solid bike. I just struggle to see the new value of them. Even more so when my daily ride cost a third of one.

best way to learn is to get a 400, and put 250 stickers on.

only a true bikie will figure it out, and if your not a complete fucktard they will probably not even have pulled you over

But if you attract the attention of plod ... They may have ALL details of the motorcycle (and it's registered owner) before the Disco's come on. And at the latest ... soon after you've been stopped.

Also ... regular checks are made on motorcyclists by plod following them ... (thank all those not keeping their Rego up to date for that)
When life throws you a curve ... Lean into it ...
