So what do the trails look like where you're at?

Don't watch the whole thing..... LOL it is too long. However if you fast forward the video it gives a decent representation of what riding around here is like. It can be lots of fun, but there are A LOT of loose rocks and typically it is slow going. Before we get to some elevation, we also get a ton of water crossings/huge puddles (some deep enough to flood the bike) which poses a problem.... you need to go slow enough you stop in time.... but then you can also get stuck because it can be quite muddy on the bottom. The dude in front needs to be the guinea pig... or you get off, find a long stick and see how deep it goes. The biggest issue is that at lower elevations you get quads and sometimes 4x4s that tear up the trails.

Anyway, back to the rocks.... do you guys have that many rocks?? Geez man - it gets tiring... I'm use to smooth paved racetracks.... so being all over the place is a bit odd.

CBR600RR's are not really the kiwi off roader's bike of choice.

Perhaps Canadians do it differently to us ... but ..

Hey don't knock it until you try it. Not too sure about wearing leathers though.... must be dry where that cat is riding.... cause you'd be soaked all day long if you had that on around here.

As I recall ... I had a (North Island) guest at my place armed with a similar machine. It seemed to work for him.

As I said ... not USUALLY the machine of choice ... but GO GUY ...

Probably not too dissimilar. Extremely varied terrain here, you can find almost any flavour of mud you can think of. Biggest overall difference may be the fauna, the only forests we have like that are planted, some of which are accessible. Majority of native bush here is just that, though very dense, think rainforest.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon

    Mostly this:

Nah pretty similar in a lot of respects here in Marlborough except they plant the trees closer, bastards!

NZ is pretty small though. You never really get miles and miles of one type of terrain, it's all over the show.

That CBR is awesome! I thought about doing that to a sports bike but trying to find a wee cruiser instead now.

That looks like an R1 to me. No way in hell would I try to use a sportbike for dirt riding... too heavy when you get stuck in the mud.

Do you guys have less lose rocks?

One thing I have seen in NZ is dirt riding on hard packed beach sand. That looks FUN!!!
