I've jacked the job in. Last day is still some time away, but after 27 years it's time for a change.

Despite that fact that some of us, yes people like me, have failed to mature when it comes to riding and we do at times ride in a manner that may annoy Joe Public and the Police. OK totally annoys, you still put up with us and contributed to discussions. I do respect the tough job you guys have to do and the absolute scum you have to deal with at times. By scum I don't mean us motorcyclists of course, real villains.

I know those feelings. I normally think the best of people until they drive like a knob. It's taken me a long while to reconcile that even decent people can do stupid stuff in vehicles.

In fact, here's something I told a class at the Popo college today. Most people who crash their cars in NZ are just Mr and Mrs Public. Not gang members, boy racers, foreign tourists. Not those drop kicks wearing their ball caps sideways with their jeans hanging down their arse.

Just Mr and Mrs Average. Nice people who make basic human errors.

Just my thoughts.

You're change of direction is the general public's loss. Likely to be replaced by some new "know-it-all" with an ego and a big stick rather than road safety in mind.

6 weeks and 5 days to go. Loving getting out on the bike more. Since I put my papers in I've managed to start avoiding a lot of the paperwork I've been shuffling for years, and I'm out on the dual seater a lot more. Life is good.
