I always jetted my KX500's a bit fat, was no need to be right on the edge, i was not using all the power all time time anyway, and we put a flywheel weight on them as well, never felt the need to go after more power on one, most the things we did were to flatten them out a bit to make them easier to ride,

had a 2000, which i won the summercross 500 class one that year (before it was called summercross, it was just the whakatane xmas MX, it was hell wet and to be fair, the 500 class was not really the premier one at that time) i only raced it once, and then hurt myself very badly racing a 125 at the taupiri supercross,

then had a 02, (no 01's where offically imported into NZ) and for the most of last year a friend lent me his 04, which i raced rodney clubs NZ 2 stroke natioanls on in 2013, (i got 2nd behind a KTM300 in the 500 class),

really by the time i got racing them they were well past there prime, in saying that tho, there was a top rider who was the fastest rider at the world 2 stroke champs race in the US on one a few weeks back, there are some good videos on him on youtube, look up Sean Collier KX500,

Well done, Had a WR500 which I traded on a new '97 KX5 then traded up to an '04, last one in the showroom. Never raced either of the 500's don't know why ( lack of courage probably ), I was still competitive on my YZ360B though and won a race or two at the classics.

Still got the '04 at only 46hrs but don't get to ride it much any more, other commitments and all that shit.

Still got the CR500 too, don't make them anymore, not sure about the 'money in the bank' theory but it's nice to have them in the shed

there was a guy that sold a 04 KX500 that has never been ridden not long ago, he got they money he paid for it in 04 back but not much more, its a cool toy, but not much of an investment,

there were 12 04's brought in by Kawi NZ, i owned Mr MC at the time and we did 4 or 5 of them, (from memory we had 4 pre ordered and brought one for stick that went pretty quick) in comparsion 5 00's came in and took 2 years to sell, and 5 02's came in and took the same,
