New rider in Auckland wanting cheap commuter

Hey everybody I am a 28 year old guy in Auckland.
I am new to riding. Just got my learners license a month ago. I waited so long to get it as I am now more sensible and (hopefully) won't kill myself with being silly on a bike.
I have been looking at the benefits of bikes and scooters for a while now and I think I am going to start with a scooter. I will have it for a year or so to get used to turning, braking and general etiquette. I will then go up to a bike from there.

I have been looking at scooters and lurking on this site and I think the general consensus is that I should go for a Jap brand over Chinese or other brands. I do want a reliable scoot that won't leave me stranded on the harbour bridge.
I am currently unemployed, so will only buy a scooter when I get a job, but I want one capable of motorway riding as I will be doing a lot of it.

At the moment I want to spend less than $1500 so am looking at a Suzuki UE 150 on trade me.

The only think is - I can't find much information on them online at all.....
Has anybody here owned one or know anything about them in terms of reliability, handling, speeds on motorways and anything else.
From what I have found out, the UE150 has a 10" wheel, which seems small for a motorway speed scoot. I am 80kg, so I assume the 150cc engine will keep me at 100km/h on the motorway except for going up big hills.

So yeah - any information or help on this matter would be great.

Don't overlook pgo. Mine was pretty reliable when it was a daily scoot. And it coped with a trip to cape reinga.
City speeds 80-120 kms for 2l. Parts are relatively cheap.

I was going to clean mine up and sell it for $1000. Some cosmetic damage but it goes well.

Wow, that is great advice.
I have already looked on this site and there are no hits on this scoot. And Google just shows parts from places in Europe and the US. So I was just checking if people on here had owned one.

+1. Yeah, I used to have an FXR150, and that was a little ripper for a cheap 150cc motorbike.
