    Just joined the MT-09 club

So I just purchased a Yamaha MT-09 and pick it up on Saturday. Deep Armour ABS. Can not wait. I've been lusting after one for ages now, and the day has finally arrived.

Will be hitting the back roads over the weekend to get a good feel for it.

What does everyone think about them who has riden or owns one?

    Cheers

I took one for a good thrash... I mean test ride when I was looking for my first proper bike.

I loved it, its main strength is obviously that its really light and has a heck of a kick. Its actually hard to keep the front end down, or easy to get it up depending on how you like it

Lots of fun to ride, and it looks cool, I hope you got the orange one?

bad points were the seat didn't feel that great to me even though it looked pretty good, the front end was a bit squishy and felt a bit uneasy. Which apparently can be fixed by changing the oil in the front suspension. I also remember something in the way of my right leg in riding position which was annoying but probably something I could have got used to. IT also seemed like a very thirsty bike and I was after something more economical.

for me it came down to the mt-09 and a monster 696 out of the 8 or so bikes I tested. And I eventually got an awesome deal on a 696

Congratulations on the new purchase, I haven't ridden one and probably won't but wouldn't mind. The bike is great value for the money and should be a lot of fun.

    congrats, nice bike.

now you will need to budget for a suspension upgrade to bring it up to the standard of the motor

Nice bike alright. Deep armour is the best colour IMO, it looks amazing.
And with an Akrapovic exhaust, it sounds mint too...

Yep, will get the Akrapovic soon. Man alive this bike is insane though! I know it doesn't have 150hp + but it sure goes. Scared the living day lights out of me, which is great and will keep me satisfied for a long time I think! Got a few other mods planned too with a tail tidy and LED blinkers.

    Can't wait for next weekend!

Go and see Jarod at Red Baron. He'll look after you. I believe the country has sold out of the ABS models for the next few months though. I went to the Yamaha on Barry's Point Road and they just weren't interested and flexible at all. Didn't get a good vibe but the Red Baron experience was mint!

    Ahh, now that is interesting!

Exactly the sort of information that I was looking for.

Damn pity about the lack of bikes (They really must be a good un when you can't buy them anymore!)

Thanks a lot man, really do appreciate your help, and please do keep us up to date with your thoughts/feelings on the bike.

I have the full Akrapovic on my 2015 MT09, sounds much better than standard & feels like it gives better throttle response, run mostly A-mode & getting reasonable fuel economy - its just that the fuel tank is small so refilling before 200kms. Attached is picture of turbo MT09 with 205 rwhp & a picture of my MT09 with AkroClick image for larger version.

Yep, fuel tank size is my only gripe! On the fuel gauge the first half of the tank goes real slow, but the second half super quick!

Very nice! Quick tip: Consider removing the DB Killer

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

Now tell me why I want to remove the db killer?? when I first picked up the bike it was out & would spit flames out the exhaust but I thought it a bit to loud
