Return to IOM 80 years later

Was down at the VCC yesterday arvo for the talk by the Maddocks and David Morley about a 20's Rudge and 60's Matchelss.
The Rudge was raced by Murray Walkers father Graham in the 1927 TT and I think got 3rd.
It went on to race for some years here and last year they were asked if they could take it to the UK for Murray Walkers 90th birthday.

David Morley has raced in classics here for some years and I think raced in the 1958 Thruxton 500 with a little known Mike Hailwood.
He rebuilt the Maddocks Matchess after a crash and was asked if he would like to go with them to the Classic TT and do a parade lap.
David said the marshal would not let him pass him, so dropped back a bit for a bit of a run down the hill.
The timekeeper was surprised to clock a chap of 70 doing 123 mph on a 1961 machine.

Just seems very familiar for some reason, and I dont think it was Whyndam that I saw it.

That Matchless is one of my favourite classic bikes - always immaculate and goes like stink. I admire David Morley for the effort he puts into his classic racing.

Yeah, I have video and pics of that one somewhere. But do not think it was that one.

Very much doubt it. The last time the Maddocks came south I think was when the register was still running in the SI and then they brought AJS only from memory. Probably the one from the Nelson museum collection you remember.
