    ACC levy and crash statistics

So i made a quick phone call to Statistics NZ and they emailed me the crash stats for motorcycles by CC...

so as a percent over the last nine years...

    CC %
    0-59 17.83
    60-249 16.86
    250-499 11.11
    500-749 8.85
    750-1k 13.56
    1k+ 19.58

the missing 13% (ish) is from unknown CC

so next im getting the acc claim statistics...

    also glad i ride a 600 class

because lets face it all this effort and possibly actual proof that motorbike acc levies are BS will change not a fucking thing
    but its fun reading...

Are all these crashes involving deaths, injury, or both?

Still seems a bit vague to be able to start relating it to ACC levies.

We've been through all this before. The search function is arse though so I cannot post a link.

    but its fun reading...
Figures require percentage of bike on the road in each class. There could be a higher percentage of 1k+ bikes registered than 500-749.

Also those figures indicate bikes below 500cc crash more often than above 500cc yet pay less ACC.

Bear in mind ... it is common for (realitivly) inexperienced riders to own a motorcycle in this range .... regardless of when LAM's came into law.

Even experienced riders crash them. The old saying ... it's more fun to ride a slow motorcycle fast ... than a fast motorcycle slow ... comes to mind. (Ego often outweighs ability)

More aimed at the above 600 acc premium insurance prices than Lams.
But it all means nothing until you can calculate it against percentage of bikes on the road at each cc rating. Its only half of the required information to base a case study on.

Could you remind us again, which bike do you currently ride, and how long have you been riding?

Shame on you ... KB only deals in facts ... ... The speed of (or ability to) these (1k+) machines have ... put the riders at a higher risk of injury ... (apparently)

It is a cunning ploy of ACC ... to let the "Learners" save some dosh ... gain enough skill/ability/confidence to get a bigger cc bike ... then hit them in the wallet when they upgrade to a bigger motorcycle ....

Graduated tax system? Clever. They must have borrowed the idea from someone else. Pyramid scheme with ACC at the top and big cc bikes at the bottom? Sounds like only ACC is going to get rich.

ACC getting rich ... no. NZ Government getting rich ... no .... but NZ bikers getting medical help if they need it ... yes.

The NZ Government needs an income to enable million $$ donations to foreign (natural .. ??) disasters ... Your buck goes there ...

If New Zealanders didn't "accidently" injure themselves (anyhow)... ACC would become redundant.

Is Gubber getting any. I thought they were just saving for a rainy day. They might have enough to buy Greece now.

I keep hearing ACC is actually "In the BlacK' .. and if they don't need/use the money ... who get the dosh ... ???

If a Greek citizen came to NZ and hurt themselves ... ACC would help them. (Think about that)
