$400..... then you stack your bike into the side of a ferrari...

$400 for not being on a 250 or less, $400 for not having an L plate, and possibly another $400 for being over 70.... then if you ride at night (after 10) theres another $400.
Of course if you are speeding and get done then its anybodies guess. But yeh look to spend about $800-$1200 extra atleast... whats wrong with a ZXR/CBR 250? Not too much slower and good to get onto the road with.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
This here is very wise advice - at least try and test ride one of them.Originally Posted by gareth_d

How long have you held your restricted??Originally Posted by The young one
If you are under 25 and have held your restricted for more than 9 months you can apply for a full license after sitting the CBTA.
Search the site for CBTA if you want more info - or www.passrite.co.nz
sadly i only got it about 1-2 months ago, damn me for not going for it when i could of
edit: after reading about that site, i found i cant do i anyway, i cant because i only have a restriced car licence too. well that sucks

IMHO 400cc multis represent the best value for money on sports bikes out there. The following are the ones I have in mind when I say this (in alphabetical order)
Honda VFR400
Honda CBR400
Kawasaki ZXR400
Suzuki GSXR400
Yamaha FZR400
All of them have roughly 55-60hp and are capable of 200kmph+. I've owned the yamaha and the kawasaki myself - the kawa is sharper and racier, but the yam is more road-friendly and smoother and much easier to turn.
Personally, I wouldn't (and haven't) spend more than $2500 on a 400cc sports bike. If you're buying from a dealer expect to pay around $4000 for an early 90s machine. Try and get one with 35,000kms or less.
PS: If you don't mind sourcing an engine, then MotoRacer might have a deal for you on a 1989 Honda CBR400RR..![]()

edit:just rephrased it (when you said motoracer, my first thought was that it was a store, not a person)
im sure i could find a motor on trademe, i wouldnt be able to fit it in (i know nothing about motors), also it may be a bit soon, but who knows![]()
Assuming you're asking me, just send a Private Message to MotoRacer and take it from there. He hasn't actually advertised it or anything - it's just sitting in the garage at the moment with a dropped valve.Originally Posted by The young one
