the reason im looking for a 400+ is i know most 250's are over priced now because every learner wants one. right now im not really into top speed, but that could be because my 250 trail bike can do no more than 140 in a straight (2 stroke). with the bike i have now, all i do is high speed cornering because thats all it can do. knowing me, i probalby wont even get to 200 on a 400 because i wouldnt feel the need to, unless it was with some mates (peer presure), and i dont want to be caught doing 2x the speed limit (quite poor).
The reason that im looking to see what bike would be best is because knowing me again nothing will happen until i get my full licence anyway (quite lazy), also my dad (once owned two 916's at the same time) dosnt want me to love road bikes (which i do) because of the dangers (hes been in some really bad road crashes), also he wont let me race on a track either (for now).
another reason ild want a 400 is that there one of the cheapest sportsbikes out there (correct me if im wrong), this would be my bike for a while so i feel a 250 would start to feel slow.
Another reason is ild want one a bit scuffed because ild want to put every pennie i make into it, and fix farings, buy better exhasts etc, with a 250cc there wold be no point, everyone wants stock.
It's funny how people believe their own views on life are the right ones.
I was never stopped riding my 400 on my learners, nor on my restricted, nor on my full. Had a cop rolled up behind me doing 60k in a 50 zone and flicked their lights on, I would have stopped, taken the fines for license infringements and no rego ($200). Only twice was I put in the situation where stopping was an option, however on those two occasions had I stopped the above infringements would have been the least of my worries.
In terms of limits, I ride no where near the limits of the 636. I know that if a cop looks at me sideways at 130 that I'll be on 230 before he's ready to u-turn. On a 400, I'd be scraping 160 at that same time... not necessarily enough of a headstart, and that is the reason why I'd be more likely to be sitting on 160+ in the first place on the 400.
That's me, and that's the way I look at it.

I've only owned a ZZR....... no they don't go past 160 - well maybe if the slope if steep enough, you're going downhill and you want to blow your engine up.....Originally Posted by avgas

My TL sounds about right, mechanicly sound, goes like stink, wheelies like stink, cosmetics stink (sort of) although i am fond of the new R1 tail unit me and Death fitted, stylie. Cheap as chips too, PM if interested. Got a near new set of 014's for it (shit hot tyres) and well suss a new WOF and reg before letting it go. And i do mean cheap as chips as in less than most good 250cc, hell of alotta 1000cc vtwin action.Originally Posted by The young one
