guys is it true that a 250cc two stroke is par with these 400cc four strokes? another thing, would a 250cc be able to keep up with most the guys on motorbike rides?

Yes - **IF** you keep the 250 2-stroke in good mechanical condition. However we are talking about similar PEAK HP figures here. The 4-stroke 400s will have a broader spread of power (sporty 2-strokes have quite a powerband - but you should know that with your dirt bikes and all). Personally, I wouldn't mind owning a nice Aprillia RS250 (maybe with a 350 kit) for fast riding and track days. I don't imagine you could just cruise on it though.

As far as keeping up goes - you should see Two Smoker leaving everyone for dead on SH22 on his RG150! My bro MotorRacer is pretty handy on my (40HP) XR600 too. As long as the roads are tight and twisty - light is right (and a wee bit of rider skill too of course)!

how dose someone leave people for dead on SH22 on an rg is he like the best rider ever?
Only a man who knows what it is like to be defeated can reach down to the bottom of his soul and come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when the match is even.

    A good rider on a 250 stroker...is a very very fast rider!!!
250 strokers are incredible quick bikes...they make good power and have low weight....carry huge corner speed...usually well beyond rider abbilities...
I had a mate with a rgv250 [91] when I had my cbr400rr...straight line he'ld pull away...but my balls were larger in corners than him...other wise it would have done me there too...
They are medium maintanace bikes...pistons and rings every 15-18 thou K's...barrels every 25-30....but the parts are really quite cheap....and easy to do your self!!!

I'ld buy a rgv or a nsr...I owned a KR1-s [kawasaki]and it was a bit dodgy on the edge...it would head shake and genrally behave badly...but it was a lil quick than rgv....and as for yamaha...tzr...err....dunno...every time I've riddin a yamaha the fuckin things been a usless piece of shit...or broken down...for know reason other than shits and giggles
