    This morning's wake-up ride...

Back in NZ after a 2 month assignment, thought I would fire up a bike and head out. 0640: light rain, and 38 degrees colder than 2 weeks earlier (on the plus side, only only 7 degrees colder than the UK 1 week earlier so there's that!

Going north at dawn on the Paraparas is nice; mainly as it's quiet and what 'commuter' traffic there is, is heading south. Couple of slippery patches of road due to clay washed off the mountainsides but that's expected and watched for. No cattle or sheep... they're probably sensibly sleeping in.

Nice loop around the lake, did not go into Taupo but rather Turangi. Late breakfast and turn for home via SH1. A tad cold by then! but it's all good when the ride is good.

I love the view coming back to the lake via Nukuhau... Poihipi Road is a 'good blast' (as another inmate has said on this forum) especially at unusual hours...
