Oh! speed triple for me - New 1050cc version... in black, perfect bike, not as top endy as a four sounds almost like a six, not a chuggy as a twin, no pussy fairings to destroy, good handling, good ground clearance. cant say I like the speed fours design, just looks odd. bet the triple does monster wheelies too :-)

Hell why didn't I think of that line. You've just slagged about every rider here with a post like that. Gota give a greenie for that if nothing elses.

They might sell a few to people who are old enough to remember Bud Ekins and Steve McQueen. If you have to ask who they are/were I guess the bike isn't aimed at you... There is a definite nostalgia thing going on with that model.

In the 70s the "street scramblers" were mostly sold in the US market and I wouldn't be surprised if that's where most of them wind up now.

What the Triumph twins had over all the other British twins was not only was it lighter, but it felt lighter too - the handling may of been crap, but it was just so flickable, the motor wasn't as powerful as the others either, but it was a happy revver which fitted in with the light flickable handling. Can't see myself tossing that thing around like it was a 69 Trophy....

My new neighbour arrived on a new one of these the other day and I think it's a really nice little bike.
I say little (1050?) not because of cc rating but because it is a nice wee compact no nonsense bike and it sounds very businesslike as it goes by our house.
I really like it as a bike but I wouldn't buy one for myself (it's not my style) but I sure as hell think it is nice.
I wouldn't mind scorching it through the Lindis Pass for a burn. Cheers John.

What? Were you listening to what Vege said - word for word almost.
It isn't a 69 trophy. They didn't have to meet Euro 6 emission and noise standards for starters - come to think of it the didn't have starters. This one does - and a fuck off big battery and 'the tail light from a '57 Plymouth' and a large alternator.
You want to flick/race balls out scrambles get a 2006 big Jap or Austrian enduro thumper.

This is a capable motorcycle that offered me a most enjoyable ride and marvellous trip down memory lane - and that's not a road that should be taken flat out - smell the roses and all - and it's also good to look shit-hot riding it.

Do you know ian beckhaus? he says to me on Sunday
'Just how much time do you spend in front of the mirror cohen?'

After riding a 72 Bonneville around for 2 weeks in Oz (never ridden an old Triumph before), I liked the old, relaxed riding style, with no great hurry to go anywhere, on a light, roaring old twin....but best of all were the looks from other people. Good to have the ego stroked occasionally.....

Yep, it's a great time to be a biker! Trouble is, I get so confused when having to make a choice, (just ask my wife!), I just seem to keep riding my old GSX! It goes like stink, is exc on gravel, (except on corrugations!), and handles well enough for my skill level, plus it is just utterly reliable! W hat more could one want? I'd love a new Triumph, maybe the Bonnie with some better looking pipes, but the new Scrambler does "It" for me, too! Always liked the T-Bird, and my mate's got a '05 Daytona that looks and sounds real sexy! I do think, though, that the Kawasaki W650 is truer to the concept and I've seen aftermarket side pipes on one and it really looked great! Didn't Vege put off-road tyres on one and go bush with it?

The 675 Speed Triple is going to tempt me, unless I can't do without the 1050's torque.
    Speed doesn't kill people.
    Stupidity kills people.
