    Rear tyre, Invercargill or Dunedin?

Currently sitting in Haast and will need a new tire long before I get back to Auckland for my flight home to Canada. So my thought was to throw on another Continental in either of these south island cities. Currently have a TKC80 and thought I'd try a TKC70. It would have to happen in the next 2 to 4 days so would appreciate a bit of local knowledge please.
    cheers

Ther is a Motorcycle shop in Alexandra (Two Wheels Unlimited [At the Mobil petrol station] ) .... Queenstown Motorcycles (Glenda Drive Frankton) but failing that ... phone / google a motorcycle shop in either city giving tyre size model you want.

Give them time to get it in if they do not have one in stock ... they may be in city's ... but not BIG city's.

Try McIver and Veitch on 477 0236 (Suzuki and KTM) or MCR on 477 0366 (Yamaha). Nearly opposite each other on the main drag through Dunedin. Am sure either could get you something overnight if you ring ahead.

You don't mention what bike or what sizes you need (which is kinda important).

There are dealers in Invercargill (bottom of South Island), can't remember which one my mate went to, but he had a choice of two tyres in stock, neither cheap, but when you need black round things and yours won't do, you won't be picky.

These guys might have the TKC70 you need in stock, and are in Christchurch (from memory), so could potentially ship to you: http://www.motomox.co.nz/shop/show_s...t.php?prod=340

Otherwise, the TKC70 isn't quite as common as the 80, so you may need to pick something more common, but hell, there would be plenty of options available with enough warning...

Mitas would be another less common option for you, and these guys (in the Waikato south of Auckland) have some sizes: http://www.adventureridingnz.co.nz/p...y/mitas-tyres/

You could try Roger's Yamaha in Invercargill. Ask for Stu, (workshop manager), used to do all my work. Tell him David Galt sent you.

I phoned around when I was down south urgently needing chain and sprockets. These guys (McIver and Veitch) were the most helpful and did their upmost to get the parts and post them to an address in Wanaka for me to collect. Good service

Going back a few years Cycletreads Chch helped me out after a rear tyre on the GSXR wouldn't sustain a full lap of the South Island on tour.
Those southern roads sure eat tyres

Yamaha dealer in Queenstown has (when I was there in June anway) good stock of tyres. Bit spendy , but when you're the only place in town ... they also have a good coffee shop and lunch bar.

it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

    McIver & Veitch rocked!

These guys got my tire in over night, put it on in a timely manner and had me on my way in nothing flat. They also replaced the rear wheel bearings while in there. Great service.
Thanks to all you guys for the help.
And the added bonus....got to play some poker in Dunedin casino on Saturday night. A very good time was had by all.

    Good stuff.

As for ending the thread, nothing much gets locked off around here, it will probably lie dormant sinking it's way down through the pages until some newby finds it and replys to the first post with out checking the date in about 5 years time... Ignore it.
