    VT250F collectable?

Hi, got a chance to get my hands on a 82 VT250F, factory full fairing version which seems a bit rare as most didn't have fairing. Just wondering would they be classed as a collectable bike now worth spending on or don't waste your time and money?
Just want some feedback or thoughts before I make the decision. Cheers

I had an 84 F2, personally, I don't think they have the character to become a collectible. It'd have to be properly mint to be worth looking at in any case.

If it has the original engine and frame it should actually become collectable just for the only reason that they were so bloody prone to chocolate internal part carnage.
To be fair they were thrashed by learners and neglected. At the time Honda were introducing a heap of new technology and the problems were to become the usual for the era.
When one used to go into a workshop mechanics used to duck for cover and avoid eye contact.
All the problems that they had have now been fixed and modified. The late models I understand are actually pretty bullet proof.
I used to wonder how long the frame would last with the water running trough part of it.

Other than the cam chains i understand most of the issues actually went back to the oil circuit not having a proper bypass.
They used to wear the heads and cams on account of this.

Cheers guys, yeah I was aware of the cam chain and guide issues forgot about Hondas crap oiling and was a bit concerned with the coolant through the frame idea.
Just thought about it cause it's going cheapish and thought fix cosmetics get it legal and flick on to make some cash to sink into my bottomless pit for money (86 TZR 1KT) tho to be fair I like that pit.

Might give it a miss was never that fond of 4 stroke 250's any way and still looking out for an RZ to do after the TZR.

Coolant in the frame should not be a issue IF it had additives in the water and changed every 3 years or so.

Anything becomes collectible if you hold onto it for long enough.

do what you want, on what you want, when you skin your knuckles and the thing goes over budget you want to be looking at it thinking you're doing this for yourself, not for money. if you want to earn money, go get a job and then you can hate it instead.
Too many people are addicted to what's it worth rather than what's it worth to them.
