We all have our little obsessions...
Spoke briefly to the rider tonight. Had 4 days in hospital with a broken collar bone and also had surgery on his knee. Still feeling very sore and will be off work for several weeks but feeling lucky to be alive. Will go and see him tomorrow.
BC.
And how did the truck driver explain how he came to cause these injuries?????

I see too many people approach an intersection where they DON'T have the right-of-way BUT act like they do - and then have to slam the anchors on at the last minute when they see that there IS another vehicle coming. (If the 'see' it that is)Originally Posted by Bykey Cop

I reckon the biggest problem is that too many people get in their cage and head off with 10 things on their mind...none of which is actually concentrating on driving the bloody car!
That and too many ICD's (in car distractions). And it just buggers logic that we STILL haven't outlawed people using cellphones when driving in this country... heck even India has done this!
Hell, last week, heading into work on the southern motorway, silly bitch in a 4wd TXTING!!!! un-be-smegging-lievable.
There is nothing to fear but fear itself...and spiders.
Thats ridiculous its not like he aimed for him.......................i'm not excusing it either, poor dude hope he's gonna be sweetOriginally Posted by MadDuck
I dont think my coment was riduclous..aim a gun accidently shoot someone and you go to jail. Fail a give way sign and its ok ???
Like I say its an opinion. These people drive our roads and get paid to do so!

Accidently shoot someone, and if they die, its manslaughter, not murder. Murder is killing with intent to kill. Accidently shoot someone and cause only minor injuries, and there is no-way that you go to ail. The charge would be along the lines of discharging a fire-arm without due care, its a similar offence to careless driving which is what I assume that this truck driver will be charged with.Originally Posted by MadDuck
No one here has said its OK to fail to give way, all we are saying is that an attempted murder charge is not appropriate, and if the police were dumb enough to charge him with attempted murder then any hick lawyer would quickly get the case dismissed and the driver would walk without any penalty at all.
Which do you prefer: an appropriate penalty or none at all?

I am concerned at this ready acceptance of poor professional ability and competence from people supposedly paid to drive as a day job.
The 4WD-toting soccer moms (sic), people TXTing etc, they're stupid bastiges and yes, need to be more alert and responsible road users. But professional drivers have much more time behind the wheel and we'd hope for road users' sakes, ought to have a heightened awareness and ability to judge the situation on our roads and perform appropriately.
They should be better drivers than those of us not paid to be on the roads all day is all I am saying. If they are "careless" (which I think this guy was a bit more than, given his supposed vocational "skill" set and the weapon (urrgh, LTSA propaganda term!) he knew he was wielding), then they should also be car-less/truck-less/ship-less/train-less/helicopter-less/F14-less/Space Shuttle-less...

Tha Jandal: Adding another dimension to "rubber side down"
Jandal [jan-duhl] noun: a mythical entity presiding over bikers
Jandal [jan-duhl] verb: "to jandal" is to involuntarily separate from one's boik.
Jandalled [jan-duhlled] past tense - usage: "bro, I've just gone and jandalled it"
That is usually the result of a careless use charge.Originally Posted by NhuanH

Sorry MD, but I did also say a number of threads back that we may be at cross purposes. I slammed you for wanting an attempted murder charge rather than careless use, to which you responded by accusing me of defending the truck driver. I do believe that we all want to see justice, but what you were asking for wasn't justice.Originally Posted by MadDuck
