    Simple pleasures

So being a keen student of human behaviour, it never ceases to amaze me how many silly little things folks do in their daily lives, but cherish them for it amuses me greatly.

One recent event was watching a lovely looking lass walking up to the door of a service station, expecting it to open automatically, then stop and back up, wave at it, before finally realising the big PULL sign meant this was a DIY jobbie. In her defence, she was really really pretty.

The one that also happens a fair bit is the car pulling up at the pumps with the filler cap on the wrong side, they look at me as they get out of their car (I drive fuel tankers) and sometimes give me an angry look as though it's my fault they're a bit dim that day.

Had a new one not long ago, where a fella had filled his car whilst parked behind me. He got a little miffed at not being able to leave the servo at the rapid pace at which he entered it, and in his haste selected Drive instead of Reverse. The 20 tonne DG bumper left a lovely imprint on the front end of his shit box Honda whatever it was. My boss asked me what DWA meant on the incident form I completed. Driving Whilst Asian is apparently not PC in this day and age anymore He wouldn't give me a copy of the security cam footage from the site either, such a spoil sport he is

We've all had our share of simple things make us giggle no doubt. One of my dear old friends, a returning rider mind you, made the school boy error of partaking in a group ride back in Europe. Towards the end of the day we came to a STOP sign and he stopped alright...just didn't put his foot down until he realised his mistake and momentum had taken over.

Did you get bored carting all that safe non flammable post and mail????

Not one to laugh at others misfortune (as it always comes back a round full circle) but you'd love watching at where I work now.
There were changes to routes and procedures for visiting outside contractors, expecting trouble large yellow concrete blocks were suitable positioned to protect various infrastructure.
You wouldn't think anyone would hit them but.... hit they did and often. Reafirms the whole hivis thing doesn't matter if people aren't looking/paying attention to start with....

To be fair, I can easily drive 3-4 different cars (diesel SUV, petrol SUV and van, petrol hybrid) in a day on top of several motorcycles. My first hurdle is remembering how the fuel cap on this particular one opens, then I worry whether I got the right side, then I pay VERY careful attention to which fuel I select.

Fuck, don't even start on how they can't put the controls like indicators in the same fucken place.

Not really, just family circumstances prompted a return to Jafa land. Just a case of going back to what I know, and the fact it pays well and one can run legit works for me.

Never looking to laugh at other folks' minor misfortune, but it is an ongoing source of amusement. I'm easily amused after all, being a Suzuki rider and all...

Heck I understand the variations of vehicles can be a tricky one. And hey, I've put diesel into my dirt bike once...a long time ago. I'm sure the fella at the servo had a chuckle about that. So nowadays when I've seen someone put mogas into a diesel or vice versa, I'm allowed a little inside grin :non

Yeah I know, the repetitive nature of the little gaffes I see daily are in reality isolated incidents to those providing my entertainment, or at least I'd hope

A mate filled his SV1000 with diesel at Waipu, how that mistake was made is still a mystery but at least he didn't start the bike after realising his faux par, the tank was emptied and filled with some proper stuff.

Once I put 91 instead of 95 in my 'Busa....

On a serious note, when I was at School and driving to School, I had the pleasure of filling up at a gas station, whilst watching a Mum attempting to multitask - doing 100 things at once:

    Fill Car,
    Yell at Kids,
Pick up ciggies at Service Station,
    Get back into Car,
Drive off..... With the hose still in the fuel cap - one quick demonstration of an Elastic material experiencing catastrophic failure whilst under tension and the severed fuel line whiplashed back and shattered the rear windscreen.

I suspect she needed to replace the Front seat as well as the windscreen

    LMAO!

    On a similar note.

In my scuba diving days, dive buddy had to call off a dive because he had too much gas in the boat!

Me: How can you have too much?

Dive buddy: Guy serving at the petrol station (yes - back in the day) put the nozzle in the rod holder thinking it was the filler for the under floor tank, 3 minutes after the thing should have auto shut off (like when its full) discovered his mistake..

Fair amount of cleaning that took!

Remember that TV program "Candid Camera"? They filled the whole boot of a car with a HUGE petrol tank and beefed the rear springs up so it wouldn't sag. Then filmed pump jockey's filling it up at service stations. Most of them looked underneath the car to see if it was running out on the forecourt, some of them several times

One of the inmates on here has a favourite trick for those PUSH and PULL doors. He got some PUSH and PULL stickers made and revels in sticking them on doors and labelling them wrong. Sits back and L(HIS)AO...

My boss's Prius is Euro designed, indicators on left. Rarely drive it, but the fucker stuffs me up for almost everything else which I drive more often...

Dad had a Merc previously, both stalks on the left...
