Tell them ax sent ya.......
...they'll double the price
Thanks man, although Drury might be a tad too far away for me![]()
ahh bit more to welding titanium than just having tig,its very hard to weld find a specialist.
It seems pretty hard indeed, thought I'd ask the experts.
Nobody out West?
Give this guy a ring http://www.metaldoctor.co.nz/
He comes to your house and do it on the spot.
Great guy.
Look/call around/google for someone with a laser welder. Other than engineers, an optometrist or jeweller come to mind, but they probably won't have a setup big enough for an exhaust.
Thanks for the help.
I've left a message for Metal Doctor, hopefully they can do Titanium.
Cheers.
Just anted to update that I've found a place.
Metal Doctor doesn do this but Machine Part Welding in Penrose does.
Cheers.
probably find the exhaust is just electroplated mild steel
Political Correctness, the chief weapon of whiney arse bastards
How would I be able to tell?
I tried with a magnet and it's definitely not magnetic.
Any other way to be sure?
Cheers!
I'm getting one put in actually. The one for the Wideband2.
Tig welding titanium is a massive pain in the ass, which is why it will be difficult to find anyone. The big problem for an exhaust is back purging, which is filling up the exhaust with argon gas (any oxygen near the weld will ruin it), so the exhaust will have to be off the bike. Then it requires specialist tig accessories to provide a big enough argon gas "shield" to displace the oxygen and titanium filler wire. it has to be titanium to titanium/titanium alloy or it will not work due to the different melting temperatures.
hope this provides some insight
