what about the vincent on webbs, described as excellent.
had a look through the photos and here's what i could see differnt from standard

later model carbies,
d series hand operated centre stand
wrong size front wheel, should be 20 inch front and 19 rear, later they changed to 18 rear and 19 front (it’s got a metzeler laser which you can’t get in 20 inch)
rev counter and drive added
incorrect dynamo, should be miller, maybe it’s a chinamo aftermarket upgrade
stainless guards, originals were alloy, birmabright, same alloy as landrover bodies
not matching numbers, i’d ask webbs for the two frame numbers, out of curiosity, let them sweat finding them
elephant trunk breather fitted to crankcases, ugly, not the answer for a well tuned bike, although it was the fad for a while to solve them breathing elsewhere.
external coils mounted on left of bike, means mag either missing or just being used as points to operate coils, ugly and not needed in this day and age. coils mounted right below fuel tap---good for fires.
mixture of alloy and stainless tommy bars on magneto cover, not attention to detail here
odd fuel tap i’ve never seen before several extra holes in at least one footpeg plate, probably for luggage rack at one stage, not standard
incorrect dip switch
modern cables with product details in writing on them
non matching numbers, only two of the three supplied (can't see photo, this is in the advert)

Buyers really need to do the research, can't rely on what the seller says. Everyone thinks their old bike is worth the same as what you see the ones sell for in the UK and US.

Matching numbers only really matter for buying and selling they don't have a lot of impact on the riding

Does anyone still ride Vincents, of the last four I saw this year, one was at a rally in Northland, two were in the back of a van ( a TT single and a Rapide) one was in bits all over a floor.

The owners all look about ready to cash them in.

Remind me to take you if I'm buying a Vincent. I'd get myself tucked operating alone.

i spent a few years toiling on mine so i had to get it right......

Nah - its about right... They struggle along at 100kph but without all the mods they are not that flash... You can make em nice but oh gawd they can be a full on drama in a bucket...

no, haivn spent a entire years income on one a few years ago and re restoring it I wanted to get it right, or at least know what's right, also do the archives for the New Zealand Vincent owners club so follow what's moving around in the country.
don't be jealous, they're a headache to most people.....

A while back now but I did the 1000 miler out of Turangi on the Darmah in the early/mid nineties and a guy did it on a Vincent, used to see one around Chch frequently

A while back you could buy a house in Auckland for under 300K too...

Bevel drive Ducatis are hardly ever seen outside Auction Rooms and Newmarket Cafes these days ( as in last year)

yikes! they spent all that effort and then made the engine plates look like crappy galv plated gate latches.
