    Some serious advice needed please!

Hey guys I'm new around these parts
My name is Cody I'm 20 from Dunedin Otago
    Here's my problem I bought a 2000 YZ125 for $200!!
It was a family members and I bought it was going sweet well I was riding it all was well then it randomly died didn't think much of it so I started it up again then it went and died and done the some thing again (please don't judge I fairly new with bikes) so I decided to look at the engine to notice oil every where then undone the oil plug to see a crack which is causing my oil leak. I took it to the local shop MCR and got a bit of paper with what it needs and what it might need the total $3750 for genuine parts or $3250 for after market parts those prices are with labour included!
So I don't know if I should spend the money on it or part it out. Or slowly get it fixed and also save for a different bike. My options for a different bike are
Something which doesn't require constant maintenance
Has to be $3500 or less don't have huge budget.
Will be ridden on trails not jumped
    My thoughts are
    Xr400
    Kdx200
    Crf230/ttr230
    Drz400
WHAT WOULD YOU GUYS DO! PLEASE HELP ME!

Ebay can be your friend here. Look for either the specific parts you need or a entire replacement motor. Other years motors may slot straight in too - do your homework. Obviously ebay australia will likely have cheaper freight. www.ebay.com.au
You "might" get lucky on trade me.
I would go down that road before thinking of parting out or getting a replacement bike.
Would help us to know what is actually stuffed. If it is the cases that are cracked, you maybe able to get those repaired for cheap.

I WOULD NEVER TYPE IN ALL CAPS AS IT'S JUST FUCKEN OFFENSIVE.

RUNNING ENGINES WITHOUT OIL IS NOT CONDUCIVE TO RUNNING ENGINES.

Tick it up to experience. Buy a busa.

From you original post, you mmentioned a crack with associated oil leak around the oil (sump?) plug. The parts list does not reflect the cases and or sump being damaged, it is basically parts for a total engine overhaul.
when you ran it, did you use premix? - Petrol mixed with two stroke oil that YZ125 would need.
As the bike is a cheapie, I'd only get the parts absolutely necessary to get it running. If the motor is so poked it really does need all those parts. Get a complete 2nd hand motor.

There is a clutch cover listed with cylinder and head listed sounds like the piston let go in some way not sure with out pics but seen many bikes happily keep running with a few marks in the head being a 2 stroke will save you some money. Could also look at getting cylinder re coated in chchch. Motox parts here in auckland can supply all the rest real cheap. I'd suggest sending motor up and I'd rebuild it for way less in labour if wanted.

That sounds like a plan mate ! If you were to do say everything on that list what would I be looking at price wise cause I am more than happy to send motor up when I get the bike back
