    Gn250 tank change

I just got a gn250 and am preparing to change it to a cafe style bike, this is my first project. I'm pretty handy at engine stuff painting and electrics, but can't weld.... I brought a ax100 tank to replace the ungly GN tank. I knew it wonuldnt be a straight fit, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas it's a lot longer than the GN tank and shallower, can I just raise the tank, should I take it to an engineer?
