    Electric bike

Just read this story from the Stuff website. My only question is how much would it cost to register? As there is no cc rating to calculate the ACC component. Or would it still be registered as a 250cc motorcycle?

You might find it's subject to RUC plus the bike rego.

You could ask on his faceplace https://www.facebook.com/motosyncnz

Good on him - although I think the bike looks fugly as sin and 120 Km range would barely get me to and from work!

I've been told that Electric bikes are restricted to 250 Watts, some of them are around 750.

Cost to build? Expected lifetime of it's components? How long before the batteries start to give you less and less kms before going flat?

At face value $1.50 per 120kms is great and with a cover for the top it would look fine.

Are you perhaps thinking of bicycles with electric assist?
