And I thought bikes were safe from the self-driving future. Yamaha has other ideas

Meet Yamaha's Motobot, a bike riding robot designed to ride un-modified motorbikes & a goal to surpass Rossi doing so

Interesting... I remember some article about a vehicle (don't recall what) tackling Pikes Peak, and their data said x time was achievable.

The driver was able to beat it.... so there is something to be said for human ability over maths...

What's the point? A self driving car, I can understand, but a self driving rider? Not much point in having a bike is there? Or am I missing something?

There is actually more point to this than just beating Rossi on the racetrack. The robot can test safety enhancements & gear; It's designed to be a real world simulation, a crash test dummy for bikes.

Yeah, maybe. But that opening line is pretty disturbing, "I was created to surpass you..."
hmmmm what could possibly go wrong?
