    Experience with shipping to Ozzy?

Hi guys, I`m still happily moving my ass around NZ on my bike. Going down to the South Island first thing 2016 till the end of my visa which is in March.

After that however I want to go to Ozzy. I did a quote with the guys I used to ship my bike to NZ from the Netherlands. To get it from NL to NZ cost me $2400 (including all the customs shit).... Getting my bike from CHC to Ozzy will cost me $2500 ...... Since it's only a fraction of the distance I find that quite steep and they haven't replied to the question where the steepness comes from. So...

    Long story short:
Anyone with experience in shipping a bike to Ozzy? Or is anyone going to ship something to ozzy and has some spare room in the container . All help is welcome here, want to get it all sorted well in advance of actually leaving this beautiful country.

Maybe 'Get Routed could ship it.
Just a quick search so haven't (and its 5:13am) read the details but they might be able to help or give you some leads.

The Tasman is the most expensive stretch of water, freight cost wise,in the world and I have never met a poor freight forwarder.

Sorry I can't help you with a solution. When I was looking to ship a bike to Oz for a long-term assignment a couple of years back, the cheapest quote I could get then was a shade under $2400, one way. This when shipping the same bike to LA was $2200... so I think shopping around may not help, but good luck if you can find someone cheaper.

As another poster has said, the Tasman is the most expensive piece of water evah. According to one of the freight companies who I won't name, the problem is a combination of very high wharf / storage costs (I'm guessing that's code for unions) and the stringent requirements of the government busybodies on both sides.

All the freight companies are happy to itemise the charges for you - it's how they work them out anyway.
Last time I shipped a bike to Oz and back, the actual freight cost was less than 30% of the total
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

$1500 for my BMW from Aus to Christchurch using Taurus Logistics. Only company that doesn't drain all the fluids etc so you can ride it straight away and not pay a fortune to put the fluids back. My bike turned up with no damage. Please be wary of bringing a bike in Aus as they can be difficult if it's not a model that's not sold there already

Yeah give Dave a call and see if he has anything planned for when you need to go. Tell him you've heard he's a homo and can you pay in blowjobs with him doing the sucking.
Nah he's a good guy (can't vouch if he swallows or not) and an expat.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

Hey Jeeron, a month or so ago were you in the Birkenhead area on Auckland's North Shore, specifically had your bike parked at the New World supermarket on Mokoia Road? A military grey/khaki coloured Moto Guzzi with square panniers (Givi? or ammo cases?), Netherlands plates?
