I know where you are coming from Ixion - to me form follows function, and that's where true beauty lies, when you can see the engineer in the bike....when it all comes together. The latest fashion statement in bikes makes no impression on me,I'm not interested at all.

yea I admire mine all the time, until I start thinking about the thousands spent on it - and the fact I have only just done ~3000km on it since I bought it, oh sweet irony.

I REALLY admired the ZZR and KDX fucken great bits of kit, the ZXR is like an early marrage with all the crap that it comes with - although has its good parts????

Not really a fanatic, but yeah, I have been known to stare and drool from time to time

Yep. I say "hello" to it in the morning as the garage door rolls up to slowly reveal it for another day. After I park it in the garage where I worrk I look at it for a couple of seconds and just tell it 'thank you". Yes, I admire my bike.

I've heard it said that talking to yourself is the first sign of madness, but talking to your bike??

actually when I was in harness racing (training around our track) we always talked to our horses, guess the tradition carried to the bike.

An elderly gent, not unlike yourself, told me once that he talks to himself all the time because he gets better answers! I suppose the same could be said about these "inanimate objects" if you were that far removed from normal healthy relationships with, dare I say it, other people?

The 'other people' who you mention are my 'clients'; they might as well be inanimate - the rest I'm not too far removed from, but I still mumble at them - especially when I've misjudged a tightening radius bend - then God, the bike and anything else I can think of gets spoken to!!
