    Road works , chip seal

Hello all , question , would you over take other traffic on your bike on freshly laid chip seal with a 30kph limit ?

I was heading home in my work wagon when a guy overtook me (I was going 60kph) and sprayed me with stones , I my opinion he gives us other bikers a bad rap!
just my 2 cents worth ,,,,, and that's what grinds my gears!

Could you just clarify the situation? It appears from what you've posted you were in a 30kph area doing 60kph?

Each situation on its merits but having done 600 metres on fresh loose chip about 3 hours ago, I can't see myself overtaking on loose chip. For one you're changing direction on a loose surface, two, you're braking efficiency is reduced if you or someone else gets it wrong but mainly no because you're going to be getting out of the track worn by other vehicles and into a deeper collection of chip ... at a time when you're accelerating and changing direction a bit.

That's correct I was breakin tha law ! So I was in my work wagon , heading home , normally a 100kph zone , sign posted 30kph , me doing 60kph , fresh that day chip seal , guy on a sports tourer came up behind me then pulled out , went past and sprayed me with stones , no other traffic , rural road , road works ended approx 300 meters later , so he could have waited 10 seconds and passed with no issues .

oh and I forgot to mention , this part of the road is normally a double yellow line as a blind crest but due to fresh seal obviously no lines

Given you were breaking the law, and in a "work wagon", that automatically gives the person on the motorcycle the right to do whatever they want.

How do you figure that? I am self employed so the work wagon is mine , and who does 30kph on road works? Not many , if any , the point I am making is the guy on the bike was a twat ! Plain and simple !

Since you have chosen to be a criminal and break the law, then it's fine for others to do the same and you have removed the right to complain about it.

IF you were doing 30kmh, then you have some moral high-ground to stand on.

How fast would you have been traveling if their was other traffic?

Yup, dude on the bike was being a knob but I'm keen to here how considerate you are.

I'm fed up to the back teeth with numptys chucking rocks at me. Some retards, locally, use fresh gravel seal to practice drifting. I had a new windscreen put in a couple of weeks ago.

On gravel I only overtake if I can do so without the rock shower.

Refer to Swoops post for explanation. Plus, you were probably showering the motorcyclist with stones at that speed.

You are the sanctimonious twat ... going twice the posted limit on new seal and probably showering the dude on the bike with stones. And then have the bloody minded gall to suggest he should have put up with it for another 300 meters ...

And then you come on this site bitching HE has no respect for other people .. and that HE is giving motorcyclists a bad name ...

    Sounds cunty to me.

And the excuse that you may have been showering him/her with stones because you were doing 60 is bullshit. If you were doing 60 and he/she 30 as posted you'd be way ahead ....

Still - no one but Cass follows indicated signs, both technically in the wrong, the bike more so.

Done, move along, you'll see worse shit on the road by Monday.
