Steering Damper for R6

My VTR will shake a bit under hard acceleration as the wheel hovers over the ground.... it does not worry me and it does not need a dampner, a shack to you CP is not necessary a shake to another rider... so chill man

acceleration head shake is a hell of alot diff from coming out of a corner head shake....dangerous....you should know this....???? maybe not then???

Best you are not giving advice on saftey either matey...one can never be to safe on a motorbike....if suziQ or anyone for that matter will enjoy their riding more because they have less to worrie about while out on the road because they feel safer or are safer because they take as many precautions as possible...to stop what if's??? power to them....if you ride hard....you need to be more safety concious...because what ifs are more likely to happen...

Ps: tank slappers can happen because of incorrect tyre pressures [tyre harmonics] amoung many other causes...not always what people expect the to start a slapper...

believe me mate when I say...I'm not full of myself....
my first off on a motorbike was on a kawasaki KR1-s 250...was going quite slow...cruzing along following a mate on a srx250...going around a corner and I casually adjusted my line to avoid some road kill....wasn't a quike flick around it or anything just casual as can be...next thing...lock to lock slap...over the handle bars...land on my shoulder...bike runs over my arm...slide in to a fence...

if I had a damper on that bike...I probally would of just had a fright and carried on...

ain't nessacerly got any thing to do with being a superbike racer on the road!

Dunno why you think Hyperpro is a try hard damper?? Because it doesnt have an ohlins sticker on it? My bike has a Hyperpro damper and it works fine....and it has 24 settings

I used to own one...and had it replaced under warrenty twice because it leaked fluid...

then I threw it in the bin the third time...but your right...it had a really good range of adjustment...better adjustment than the ohlins one...as it only has 16 settings...

Maybe you got a shitter, it happens. Had no problems with mine.. well hasnt slapped so itsdoing something right or I'm just soft.

also had a KR1 250 smoker.. the red and white/black one.. and yep, that had more slappers than Hunter's Corner

my KR1-s finally died [it was a red and black too]when i hit a sheep at about 140kmph...believe it or not it was my most un-pain full crash...for some reason I just landed on the road softly-ish and slide nicely to a stop....but fuck me...what happened to the bike...you wouldn't have believed....and the sheep...errr...nasty

I don't think...but am not a 100% sure that the TLR's had the same issue with being nervious handlers like the TLS did...I'm pretty sure the TLR rotary damper was re-worked by suzuki to have a much more digressive damping curve than TL's one...as most of the bad handling traits these bikes suffer [suzuki TLs and TLR] is alot to do with the overly hard compresion from the rotary damper...not helped by the amount of extra friction a rotary damper produces internally compare to a conventional damper....so the over hard dampening on the rear places extra strain on the front forks...which are quite well damped...but not good enough to cope with the bad balance due to the rotary damper not being able to do its job...

Look my R6 was a little twitchy when I got it. I've tuned that completely out with suspension setup, experimenting with tyre pressures, riding position, and throttle technique.

I'm not mega quick, but I have been known to make Buell XB12R riders cry. I've attacked bumpy corners trying to provoke the thing too.

I think you could get a pretty decent rear shock for the price of a steering damper and careful setup will net a comfier ride and a more stable chassis. All a steering damper is going to do is limit steering lock and stop you from jamming your thumbs against the tank. But from most of the stunned silence I get when I post about actually owning an R6, and refuting the rumours of it being a tank slapping peaky death machine I guess, no strike that, I know I'll just get the, "STFU n00b, what do you know" speech.
