Pretty sure I saw one lurking in the aisles at the Porirua K-mart.

Be careful if you go looking - it's harvest season and the growers may well mistake you for something (but probably not sasquash ...)

Much like the sighting of a Moa down south a little while back. It would normally be dismissed but this one had much more credibility due to the person doing the sighting.

I went tramping through whirinaki forest as a kid and remember tanya explaining to us the giant H kauri tree. Two trees basically joined together in the middle looking like an "H". Anyone seen it know where it is? Id like to go back see it again

It would make an epic house! The bigger tree had been rumored of for years but it was not until a hunter GPS'd it that DOC and Iwi could find it. According to the DOC guy who had just seen it (met him at the Waipoua Lodge) it's on the crown of a hill surrounded by it's enormous progeny. Must be a helluva thing to see.

Some of the stone remains can be accessed from one of the West coast settlements, name escapes me, had a liquid lunch. There is a creek at the end of the beach and the remains are not far up. Further into the forest from there is quite a large area of remains but difficult to get to. I doubt he would guide unless he had some hard cash. He has expensive habits.

Yeah, put a Ngapuhi sticker on your car.

There are accessible remains of stone work in the Puketi forest. The most interesting from an archaeological point were bull dozed by DOC a few years ago. An amateur archaeologist originally found them (my old neighbour) and she got shit for her theory's so backed off. Gone now, apart from her photographs and the horde of not Maori things she has in her house. Hmmmmmm? Nobody wants to find out about the red headed stone workers.

George that's fascinating. Why would doc have bulldozed the stone site?

I have heard theory that nz used to be attached to India.
