Just like a GB500 fuel tank, but not

I bought a Gb500 a couple of years ago that had a major dent in the tank so it came with a spare fuel tank that was unpainted. I just finally got around to getting it painted but when I went to fit it to the bike, it wouldn't fit as it is wider than the GB500 tank that came off the bike. The fuel tap & fuel cap fitted straight up.

So pretty annoying and an expensive mistake, in all other aspects this tank looks like the one from the bike. I thought the GB500 tank shape was unique and unlike any other Honda tank....

Does anybody have a good idea what the tank could be off?

Post a side view, you can't tell buggar all from the pics you posted.
There was a similar shaped GB250 but i'm pretty sure they were narrower and less deep.
But are you sure someone hasn't tried to blow out a dent in the other tank bulging it out in the process?

It's the tunnel that's wider Husa.

The cap and pet cock fitting isn't a surprise, it means that it's a Honda part. My guess would be that it's off a Honda twin, but which specific model I have no idea.

Get some better photos of it from different angles, ya might be able to sell it to someone to pay for the GB tank being repaired.

    Here are side comparisons.

The bike this tank came with was an absolute jinx for me, to the point where I was scared to go near it. I owned it for 2 years and did less than 1,000km as every time I fixed something, another problem would occur. As soon as I got it running mint and could sell it in good conscience, I did and I hope the new owner is having better luck. My current Geeb has been nothing but a dream to own.

It appears the curse of the old bike still exists...

With them side by side, they're clearly different.

I've done some Google searching and can't find anything that looks similar to it.

The shape's generic GB - but not 500. I'd pick 250, I've seen one and it was that bit narrower.

Only thing I can think of would be an XBR500? Similar enough to look the same but maybe different?
