    New Ducati Classics

I see Ducati are releasing three new classic bikes. Similar to what Triumph have been doing. I've always fancied the 900SS with the half fairing.

Yes, these look (well, from the pictures anyway) rather nice. They all have the 1000DS engine.

I think we're only getting one or two here in NZ, they're in limited numbers at this stage.

Got invited to the London launch , but couldn't go , I've saw one of the prototypes a few months back at a show . Looked good , and thought it might make a good second bike hence my Ducati invite.(wife mentions something about devoirce in background) I probably get shoot for saying this but It really reminded me of a Guzzi V11 with the cylinders turned to face a proper way.
Sorry about the bad photo , lots of fluro lighting and glass

Saw them in the factory a couple of weeks ago. The Paul Smart (metallic silver) one looks pretty cool, although I wasn't too sure about the frame colour.

Origionally they were only going to make 2000, but demand was so high they upped production to 5 or 10 thou

Im not too sure on those but something just amuses me about those bikes
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

I am going to have to go against the tide here and say that it looks pretty awful. Fair enough 20 years ago, but come on can't they think of something new?

Some people like the 'retro' look.

There seems to be a Retro revolution so these should sell no worries.

I agree, it could be a good way for factories to make money by re-releasing bikes that bring back memories for the older generation of bikers.

That would depend on the market that is being aimed at,not everyone wants a cookie cutter bike and that is pretty much what the average sportbike looks like, seen one seen them all,so perhaps Ducati and Trumph are thinking of something new but in a older light.Retro may not appeal to the average under 30 rider but i can think of a lot worse things than reliability and modern brakes and suspension in a classic (timeless) looking package.

The one with the fairing looks ugly as IMHO, but this one looks mint as! I love the really low clip ons, but the exhaust isn't quite right.

I'm all for these retro bikes, so long as they're still sporty enough to have fun on. People get obsessed with having the fastest or most powerful, but you'll have just as much fun on something so long as it handles well and goes fast enough! Thats just my opinion tho

Certainly agree about the exhaust -looks like something Darth would ride. Retro tyres as well. I hated Peralli Phantoms............. Oh and the end mirrors are there to stop your hands slipping off those low clip ons don't ya know.
