So my neighbours hate my bike

I just got a call from my landlord. Apparently my neighbours do not appreciate both the sound or smell of my bike . . .
I feel a bit stink really, I came home form the Wairarapa yesterday arvo and I had indulged in 5 or 6 beers so I couldn't take the bike for a ride so I decided to clean it instead. Granted I kept drinking while I was cleaning my bike, so by the time I had finished I was quite "jolly". In my state of "jollyness" (new word) I decided that it would be fun to sit in my driveway revving my bike, partly cause I wanted to see if it was still blowing smoke, but mostly cause I love the sound (and smell)! I have to admit I prob sat there for a good 5 mins then rode the bike back into the carport. Yes I know that I was acting like a 16 year old, but I just couldn't help myself!
Anyway back to the problem at hand, my neighbours. I live in a block of 4 flats and apparently all but one tenant rang the landlord and complained. My landlord has given me a warning, but im more worried about living in harmony with my relatively new neighbours.
Im thinking that I may go and have a chat with all of them after work tonite and apologise, but am not sure how they will react as I have never met them.
What happens when you get a warning form your landlord? Is it like three strikes and your out, or what?

Politely request that they direct future "requests" to the originator of the problem.

Or are they scared of someone who gets blown away in a stiff breeze?

Backstabbing bastards don't deserve your concern.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

Yea, that seems pretty reasonable, here's hoping that they are reasonable people!
Thanks for making me laugh Jim!

    (snip)

Have a look at the clauses in your tenancy - as a general rule it's a good idea to be on good terms with the neighbours. Maybe poke your head in and say 'Hi' and 'sorry'; take 'em some scones you just baked - they'll love you anyway! (unless they're hard hearted or really, REALLY, *hate* bikes!). Landlords have to give you opportunity to remedy any breach of the tenancy agreement anyhow...the Residential Tenancies Act is largely on your side my friend.

(I'm sure my neighbours are not too fond of the Bandit's sweet song when I leave for university around 7am - it may be small, but 'tis rowdy with a sports 'zorst', none of it helped by being in a quiet valley with an echo... )

JUST ASSURE HIM THAT IT WAS AN ERROR OF JUDGEMENT AND IT WONT HAPPEN AGAIN , IF YOU GOT MORE THAN ONE COMPLAINT THEN ITS PROLLY VALID , I MANAGE ABOUT 30 UNITS AND HEAR ALL SORTS OF COMPLAINTS , AND THIS AINT THAT BAD . BTW I ALWAYS ROLLED MY BIKE DOWN THE DRIVE WITH THE ENGINE OFF JUST TO TRY AND BE CONSIDERATE AND SET AN EXAMPLE .
IF YOU APOLOGIZE TO THE OTHER TENNANTS AND MEAN IT ID SAY THE LANDLORD WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY

Sounds like fun... Also sounds like you've got the best idea already. If you haven't already met them, maybe that would help? I wonder if they'd be less likely to complain if they knew you and felt they could approach you comfortably about it? Have you been living there for long? If you've just moved in, would this be a good time to invite them all around for a BBQ??? I'm sure that if your neighbours actually knew you they'd be much less likely to complain to the land-lord due to a once-a-month occurrence. Who knows... maybe they don't know each other either. Having that little band of four would certainly help with security if someone's snooping around. just my 2c... the fact that you haven't got your hackles up is a pretty good start!!! hahaha Keep us posted on the outcome!

Here's hoping they think i'm being sincere! I leave the house at 6.30 every morning, so I may try the wheeling down the driveway thing, and see if that helps!

    Haha, agree with Jim.

Don't sweat it, I own an RX7, when the place I was living in in Papamoa was sold, 3 old ladies from around the neighbourhood asked the real estate agent at the open home if "the young fella with the noisy red car" was moving out. Yet none had approached me and I had always tried to be considerate.... some people aren't happy unless they've got something to complain about....

Lets have a party and give them something to really moan about!!!
